What is JPP’s Legal Startup Mentor Scheme
Your Legal Startup Mentor provides access to ‘general counsel’ advice on the following basis:
- 2 slots of 30 minutes per month to be booked in advance via an online booking system
- Verbal advice only (not specific work on legal documents or matters covered by other quotes)
- A 3-month initial term to renew automatically unless cancelled in advance
How Will it Help My Business
Existing Mentor Scheme Members have used the service to discuss:
- Business Structure
- Preparation for Investment and Funding Rounds
- Intellectual Property
- Employee Share Option Schemes
How Much Does it Cost
Just £50 (plus VAT) per 30-minute slot.
A standard month with two slots is £100 plus VAT.
The monthly standard fee is payable monthly in advance. Further slots per month potentially available if required and agreed.
What are the Qualifying Criteria
- This is only available to business Founders
- The business must be in the startup stage but needs to demonstrate that they have ambitious and realistic plans to scale

If the online application is successful, the second stage is an interview with JPP Law’s MD Mark Glenister who will assess if you and your business are a good fit for the scheme.
